April 29, Fineko/abc.az. As of March 31, 2026, the total assets of the banking sector operating in the country amounted to 57.96 billion manats, liabilities - 50.29 billion manats, and balance sheet capital - 7.67 billion manats. In March, assets and liabilities increased by 1.4% and equity by 2%.
ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, that the loan portfolio of banks grew by 0.6%, or by 171.5 million manats, reaching 30.29 billion manats.
53.5% of the portfolio, or 16.21 billion manats, accounted for business loans, 31.3%, or 9.49 billion manats for consumer loans, and 15.2%, or 4.58 billion manats for mortgage loans.
Deposits formed the main part of the banking sector's liabilities. The deposit portfolio amounted to 37.57 billion manats, which corresponds to 74.7% of all liabilities. Of them, 20.98 billion manats belong to legal entities and 16.59 billion manats belong to individuals.
69.1% of individual deposits (11.46 billion manats) are placed in manats, 30.9% (5.13 billion manats) in foreign currency. Term deposits made up 64.9% of the deposit portfolio, or 10.76 billion manats. In March, the volume of term deposits of individuals increased by 0.7%, or 71.8 million manats. In the first quarter of this year, growth made up 4.3%, or 442.1 million manats.
