April 27, Fineko/abc.az. American low-cost airlines, including Frontier Airlines and Avelo Airlines, have asked the U.S. authorities for financial assistance in the amount of $2.5 bn.
ABC.AZ informs that funds can be provided in exchange for warrants with the possibility of conversion into shares of companies.
The reason is the expected high prices for jet fuel (over $4 per gallon in 2026), which is particularly hitting the low-margin low-cost segment. The pressure is being increased by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
The request is already being considered by the White House, amid statements by Donald Trump about the importance of maintaining competition in the aviation industry.
