April 27, Fineko/abc.az. Interest rates on leasing are expected to decrease with the adoption of the Law on Financial Leasing in Azerbaijan.

ABC.AZ informs that MP Vugar Bayramov said this at today's plenary session of the parliament.

He added that the annual interest rate on cash loans in the country now starts at 11%, while for leasing transactions it is at least 14%. In addition, an initial payment is also provided in this segment.

The MP noted that the adoption of the new law is expected to affect the level of interest rates and increase the availability of leasing, including for small and medium-sized businesses.

He also stressed that in Azerbaijan, the state provides agricultural machinery for leasing through preferential programs, while banks and financial institutions offer cars for leasing. At the same time, according to the MP, leasing rates in the country are higher than for loans.

For comparison, he cited data: in the European Union, the average rate on business loans is about 3.5%, on consumer loans - close to 7%, and leasing rates are kept at around 2%. In Kazakhstan, the average loan rate is 19%, while car leasing is offered at nearly 14%.
