April 22, Fineko/abc.az. The State Budget of Azerbaijan for 2026 envisages expenditures in the amount of 2.457 billion manats for servicing public debt and obligations.

ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan, that in the 1st quarter of this year, a total of 524.2 million manats were paid to service the national debt. Of this amount, 132.5 million manats accounted for domestic debt (interest payments) and 391.7 million manats accounted for external debt (269.5 million manats - the principal amount of debt and 122.2 million manats - interests).

Taking into account implementation of projects through external borrowings and payments made, as of April 1, 2026, the volume of external government debt amounted to $4.689 billion. For comparison, as of January 1, 2026, this figure was $4.813 billion.

Thus, the external public debt decreased and as of April 1 made up 6.1% of projected GDP of the current year (against 6.3% in the previous quarter).
