April 1, Fineko/abc.az. Over Jan-Feb 2026, there was a positive trend in the motor vehicle insurance market in Azerbaijan. Both insurance premiums and compensations payments of this kind of insurance observed growth.

ABC.AZ informs with reference to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan that motor vehicle insurance premiums amounted to 38.3 million manats (2.8% more against Jan-Feb 2025). 27 million manats of premiums accounted for compulsory insurance and 11.3 million manats for voluntary insurance.

And insurance payments grew at a higher rate. Thus, in the first 2 months of 2026, compensation payments on this kind of insurance reached 31.9 million manats (30.3% more than a year ago).

26.2 million manats of payments were made within compulsory insurance and 5.7 million manats within voluntary insurance.

Experts note that a faster increase in payments compared to premiums may be due to an increase in the number of road accidents or an increase in the amount of damage. This trend also indicates a rise of insurance companies' expenses.
