Bitcoin price drops below $72,000

February 5, Fineko/abc.az. The price of bitcoin has declined below $72,000 amid a massive wave of risk aversion that has engulfed global markets.

ABC.AZ reports, referring to Bloomberg HT, that the cost of bitcoin has reached about 15-month low.

The world's largest cryptocurrency has lost more than 42% of its value since October 2025, when it reached its peak.

Bitcoin dropped to $71,540, the lowest since November 6, 2024, after the re-election of Donald Trump as president of the U.S.

Shilian Tan, a partner at Monarq Asset Management, said that the market is currently experiencing a crisis of confidence. He added that although the early stages of the fall were associated with typical cryptocurrency liquidations, the pressure on Wednesday is fueled by tensions affecting the broader asset class.

Investment flows into exchange-traded funds (ETFs) for bitcoin in the U.S. are undulating. On Monday, net inflow of approx. $562 million was recorded, while on Tuesday, investors withdrew $272 million from the funds.
