January 30, Fineko/abc.az. Silver futures prices at the Comex commodity exchange decreased by 16.5% and as of 13:55 Baku time reached $95.5 per troy ounce.
ABC.AZ reports that the drop occurred after record growth.
On January 26, the price of silver reached $117.1 per ounce for the first time in history. The next day, the quotes rolled back somewhat and settled in the range of $110-112. This means a rise of 55.5–58% since the beginning of 2026 and a 1.4-fold increase in price over the past 12 months.
According to Bloomberg, this dynamic relates to geopolitical tensions, including threats from the White House to impose additional customs duties on imports from eight countries that prevent Greenland from joining the U.S., as well as the weakening of the dollar.
