November 25, Fineko/abc.az. If we look at the current energy demand trajectory, about 10% more energy will be needed in 2050 than it is today.
ABC.AZ reports that the relevant statement was made today by Giovanni Cristofoli, BP's Regional President for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey (AGT), at the SPE 2025 Caspian Technical Conference in Baku.
He stressed that the world needs the product of this region: "The global demand for hydrocarbons continues. bp recently published the Energy Outlook. If we look at the current energy demand trajectory, around 10% more energy will be needed in 2050 than it is today. About half of this energy will still be oil and gas. Even in a scenario where temperature increases are kept below 2 degrees Celsius, energy demand remains about two-thirds of today's levels, and a third of that demand will still come from oil and gas. So, the reality is that we will still need carbohydrates for decades to come. Therefore, it is important that the region develops and continues to function as an energy center for a wide geography," he said.
