November 24, Fineko/abc.az. Russian oil risks getting “stuck" in the sea due to US sanctions, ABC.AZ informs, referring to Bloomberg.
U.S. sanctions will result in nearly 48 million barrels of Russian oil ending up at sea, forcing dozens of tankers to seek alternative destinations as part of the latest restructuring of global oil trade, the agency said.
Due to the restrictions that have come into force, Indian refineries are looking for replacement for supplies, ordering oil tankers to transport cargo from the Middle East at such a pace that freight rates on this route have reached an almost five-year high.
“Export flows from Russia are being held back, but they are not reaching their destination yet,” said Warren Patterson, head of commodity strategy at ING Groep NV. “If this continues and eventually fully recovers, we may start to see a drop in supply, which will cause markets to worry.”
