September 25, Fineko/abc.az. Chinese automaker BYD sold three times as many electric vehicles on the European Union (EU) market in August as it did in August 2024.
ABC.AZ informs that the company surpassed Tesla in sales. This is stated in the monthly report of the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA).
According to ACEA, BYD sold 9,130 electric vehicles in the EU in August (201.3% more against August 2024). At that, Tesla's sales fell 36.6% to 8,220 electric vehicles last month. Tesla's share in the EU market decreased from 2% to 1.2%, while BYD's share increased from 0.5% to 1.3%.
As a whole, car sales in the EU grew by 5.3% against the 2024 same term. Last month, about 678,000 vehicles were sold in this market.
