The estimages of the Asian Development Bank and government sources show that demand for energy in the Caucasus and Central Asian countries—including Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan—is projected to increase by 43% by 2030, reaching approximately 134 million tonnes of oil equivalent, up from 94 million tonnes in 2020.
According to Moody’s report, cited by ABC.AZ, despite rapid growth in energy consumption, the region remains heavily reliant on fossil fuels, with hydrocarbons accounting for around 75% of electricity generation.
