July 8, Fineko/abc.az. Obtaining of an identity card established by the new standards in compliance with the legislation is not mandatory.
ABC.AZ informs that this matter was raised at today's Milli Majlis session before the discussion of amendments to the Law on the Identity Card of a Citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Chairman of the Committee on Legal Policy & State Construction Ali Huseynli clarified this issue. He noted that obtaining a new ID card will take place in cases stipulated by law.
"Upon the expiration of the validity period of the ID, upon reaching the age of 15 and in other cases stipulated by law, the ID cards of citizens will be issued in the form envisaged by the new standards," he said.
A new ID card must be obtained in the following cases:
- In case of expiration of the validity period of the ID card;
- When changing the name, surname, patronymic;
- When the photo is outdated;
- When the ID card is lost or has become unusable;
- When the age of a citizen reaches 15 years;
- In case of technical unsuitability of the certificate.
