July 2, Fineko/abc.az. There are no major problems with US dollar's status as the world's main reserve currency in the near future.
ABC.AZ informs that the Central Bank's leaders announced this on July 1 at an annual conference in the Portuguese resort town of Sintra.
U.S. President Donald Trump's unexpected economic, trade and security policies have raised questions about whether the US currency, which accounts for 58% of global reserves, can remain at the center of the global monetary system.
Christine Lagarde, the president of the European Central Bank, who argues that the euro can be an alternative to the US dollar, said that 2025 could be a “pivotal year” in this regard: "But it takes a lot of time and effort to make major changes."
She noted that under conditions of uncertainty and unpredictability, "investors are considering their options", and there is evidence that the euro benefits from this.
The head of the Central Bank of Japan, Kazuo Ueda, said that any significant changes would depend on structural reforms, and the head of the Bank of England, Andrew Bailey, stated that the situation with the US dollar would not change in the near future.
The head of the Bank of Korea, Ri Chang-yong, said that the prospect of long-term changes in relation to the US dollar is a matter of discussion for some investors who even hold dollar assets.
