June 25, Fineko/abc.az. The number of payment cards in circulation at the end of May through the systems of banks and Azerpocht LLC increased by 562,000 cards or 2.8% compared with the beginning of 2025 and reached 20.46 million cards. Compared with the previous month, the number of payment cards declined by 214,000 cards.

ABC.AZ informs that the quantity of debit cards among payment cards grew by 4%, while the number of credit cards dropped by 6.2%. The growth of payment cards had positive impact on non-cash payments. Thus, during the month, the non-cash transactions within the country increased by 29% compared with the 2024 relevant term.

In May 2025, the volume of non-cash payments within the country made using cards amounted to 8.074 million manats.

E-commerce accounts for 7.053 million manats of non-cash payments. Of the remaining amount, 1.016 million manats were sold through POS-terminals, and 3.2 million manats were sold through self-service terminals. Since the beginning of the year, the volume of non-cash domestic transactions with payment cards has made up 67.1% of domestic card transactions.
