June 23, Fineko/abc.az. Credit bureaus play an important role not only in individual scoring, but also in macroprudential policy, risk model development, and financial inclusion expansion.
ABC.AZ reports that CBA deputy governor Togrul Aliyev made the above-said statement at the First International Conference on Credit Reporting in Baku.
The CBA representative further noted that credit bureaus serve responsible lending by reducing information asymmetries and the likelihood of default in credit markets, and also play an important role in macroprudential analysis, stress testing, and the development of Basel III risk models.
Aliev added that these structures are also increasing their financial accessibility by including non-traditional sources of information in credit solutions, such as electronic payments, e-commerce behavior, rent and utility bills: "Nowadays, more progressive integration methods have greatly expanded these opportunities. This increases the credit opportunities of the population, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises."
He also pointed out the impact of artificial intelligence and machine learning on credit reporting: "Artificial intelligence-based models process large and complex databases and make more accurate predictions that traditional credit scoring cannot. But there are also issues such as the risk management of models and the transparency of algorithms in relation to these technologies."
