May 7, Fineko/abc.az. Over the past decade, China has become the largest international creditor to developing countries, surpassing the IMF, the World Bank and the Paris Club countries.

ABC.AZ informs that at its peak in 2021, China's foreign loans exceeded $1 trillion.

According to a study by Zhengyang Jiang from Northwestern University, this reduces the impact of US monetary policy on emerging markets and weakens the role of the U.S. as a global financial mediator.

China's largest borrower is Russia ($169 billion for 2000-2021), followed by Venezuela ($113 billion), Pakistan ($70 billion), Angola ($65 billion), and Kazakhstan ($64 billion).
