April 4, Fineko/abc.az. The U.S. attaches great importance to relations with Azerbaijan. The Southern Gas Corridor forms the basis of our successful bilateral partnership based on common interests.

ABC.AZ informs that Eric Jacobs, Senior Adviser to the Bureau of Energy Resources of the U.S. Department of State, said about this at the 11th Ministerial Meeting within the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and the 3rd Ministerial Meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council.

According to Jacobs, the SGC, which is the embodiment of ambitions, makes it possible to use Azerbaijan's rich energy resources for the benefit of not only the country, but also the region.

"Azerbaijan has already become a reliable supplier for dozens of countries. Like the U.S., Azerbaijan has huge energy resources. U.S. President Donald Trump has called energy the cornerstone of America's supremacy and the key to its security. The task of each country is to create economic opportunities through energy wealth, improve healthcare and education systems, and improve the lives of citizens," he emphasized.

Jacobs underlined that natural gas is no longer considered as fuel for the transition to an uncertain and unknown energy future: "Natural gas is a reliable, affordable and safe source of energy for all of us, and it will remain so for decades to come. As the fuel of choice, natural gas is now essential to meet global energy needs. A few days ago, I was at the Sangachal terminal. Obviously, Azerbaijan has never forgotten that natural gas is a key source of energy for the future of the country, Europe and the whole world. Our country, in particular American companies, sincerely looks forward to partnering with you and your energy industry to identify and accelerate opportunities for economic growth and energy security."
