ABC.AZ informs that the validity period of Kazakhstani cards will not be limited to one year only for entrepreneurs, diplomatic staff and investors. Banks will check documents for other non-residents: employment contract, training contract, residence permit, etc.

Officially, the Kazakh authorities explain the new restrictions by saying that they want to reduce the risks of using bank cards for drug trafficking and digital assets. Over 90% of those cardholders, used to launder criminal proceeds, were non-residents. There are still many other options for issuing foreign cards. These are, for example, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Belarus.
