December 24, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan has increased the production of cigarettes this year, reduced the cost burden on imports, as well as income from their exports. Georgia's interest in Azerbaijani cigarettes has strongly supported the growth of export volumes.
ABC.AZ reports that in total, Azerbaijan sold about 88 million packs (1.762 billion cigarettes) abroad in the first 10 months of 2024.
If we consider that last year it was 31 million packs, then compared to last year, the volume of cigarette exports grew almost 3-fold.
The country received $27.79 million in foreign currency from cigarette exports.
Until 2019, there was negative balance in the export-import balance for this product, which turned into positive balance with an increase in domestic production.
