JPMorgan predicts a 10-15% drop of Chinese yuan

November 28, Fineko/abc.az. JPMorgan expects the average effective U.S. tariff on China to be 60% and forecasts slowdown in growth of the Chinese economy and emerging markets in 2025.

ABC.AZ informs that according to analysts at JPMorgan Chase & Co., in response to trade restrictions that President-elect Donald Trump may impose, China may allow its currency to depreciate by 10-15%.

In their forecast, JPMorgan experts argue that developing economies will suffer from Trump's promises to increase trade duties, but expect that trade policy towards China will change significantly in the near future.

JPMorgan predicts that average effective tariff for China will be 60%, compared with the current 20%. This could negatively affect the economic outlook for 2025, slowing growth to 3.9% from 4.8% in 2024.
