U.S. to impose sanctions for using Russian equivalent of SWIFT

 November 22, Fineko/abc.az. The U.S. Treasury warned of sanctions risks in the case of using the Russian equivalent of SWIFT, the System for Transfer of Financial Messages (SPFS) of the Central Bank of Russia.

ABC.AZ reports, referring to U.S. Treasury’s statement.

"Foreign financial institutions should be careful about their relations with institutions that have joined the SPFS, since such banks can be channels to circumvent Russian sanctions," the statement says.

It is emphasized that the U.S. is ready to "more aggressively" influence financial institutions taking such steps.
