October 18, Fineko/abc.az. A new fund may be created in Azerbaijan to support "green financing" or this function may be assigned to one of the funds operating in the country.

ABC.AZ reports, quoting the chairman of the Association of Banks of Azerbaijan, Zakir Nuriyev, as saying this in Baku at the forum "Green Finance & Sustainable Development".

"We see the successful experience of state support for financing priority areas in Azerbaijan, and we can apply it in green financing. We also see that in some countries, government institutions and agencies, as well as NGOs, are creating "green banks" that function precisely for this purpose. In Azerbaijan, the creation of a new fund or the transfer of this function to one of the existing funds can become one of the decisive factors for sustainable financing. The support of international financial institutions is also important," Nuriyev said.
