October 3, Fineko/abc.az. The British authorities imposed sanctions against Alfa-Bank Belarus CJSC.
ABC.AZ reports that this follows from the list updated on October 3, posted on the website of the UK Ministry of Finance.
The British authorities justify their decision by saying that "Alfa-Bank Belarus CJSC benefits by supporting the Belarusian state by operating in its key strategic financial services sector".
The sanctions imply the seizure of the bank's assets if they are found in the territory under the jurisdiction of the UK.
Alfa Bank of Belarus is a subsidiary of Russian investment consortium Alfa Group. Russian bank of the same name has been subject to UK sanctions since March 24, 2022.
