Türkiye to fine for paying in cash for rental housing and large purchases

September 12, Fineko/abc.az. Under the new rules prepared by the Turkish Tax Administration, paying rent in cash will be prohibited. In case of detection of such payments, a fine of 10% of the rental amount, but not less than 5,000 liras, will be applied.

ABC.AZ reports that both the tenant and the landlord will pay for it.

Under law, rent payments must be transferred through a bank, and the landlord is obliged to pay the appropriate taxes.

In addition, the Turkish Finance Ministry plans to impose fines for paying for large purchases in cash. Speech is about the already existing restriction, when any purchases more expensive than 7,000 liras (~ $200) must be paid by bank card. It is proposed to apply a similar fine, 10% of the purchase price, but not less than 5,000 liras. The consumer can notify the tax service that the purchase of over 7,000 liras was paid in cash, then it will be possible to avoid a fine.
