Losses in main gas pipelines in Azerbaijan decreased sharply

August 20, Fineko/abc.az. From January to June of this year, Azerbaijan has seen a loss of 23.8 million cubic meters in oil pipelines, which is 37.4% less in annual comparison.

During the corresponding period last year, the gas pipeline losses in the country amounted to 38 million cubic meters.

Notably, in January-June 2024, 19 238,6 thousand tons of oil were transported through oil pipelines in Azerbaijan, which is a 2.1% decrease in annual comparison. 75.2% of the transportation was carried out via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil export pipeline. During the reporting period, 14 468,7 thousand tons of oil were transported through this pipeline, which is a 3.7% decrease in yearly comparison.

Recall that last year, Azerbaijan's revenues from main oil pipelines amounted to AZN 1 101 741,9 thousand, which is an 11.1% decrease in annual comparison. In 2023, 39 753,2 thousand tons of oil were transported through the main oil pipelines, which is a 5.2% increase in annual comparison. 75.9% of the transportation was carried out via the BTC and 30 191,6 thousand tons of oil transported through this pipeline during the previous year, which means an increase of 1.49% in annual comparison.
