Cash supply grew by 18%

July 11, Fineko/abc.az. In 2023, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) withdrew banknotes in the amount of 5.47 billion manats (495.5 million banknotes) from circulation, and in return issued banknotes in the amount of 8.07 billion manats (568.3 million banknotes).

ABC.AZ reports that as a result, the money supply in circulation increased by 2.6 billion manats (73 million banknotes) or 17.7% up to 17.31 billion manats (947 million banknotes).

Last year, paper banknotes for 547.35 million manats (97.87 million banknotes) and metal banknotes for 3.6 million manats (18.7 million banknotes) were produced and imported into the country. Thus, reserves in the national currency increased to 12.62 billion manats (582.8 million banknotes).

In addition, during the year the regulator replaced 103 million banknotes (1.78 billion manats) of unusable paper banknotes with new ones.
