Interest rates on new deposits and loans in manats decline in Azerbaijan

April 26, Fineko/abc.az. In March 2024, the average interest rates on attracted new deposits and loans from customers in the national currency in Azerbaijan decreased slightly.

ABC.AZ reports that this is stated in the statistics of the Central Bank.

Thus, interests on newly attracted deposits in manats dropped by 77 basis points in March compared with February and made up 7.64%. However, the overall average interest rate in manats is 8.39%. If the percentage of return on deposits attracted from legal entities is 6.03%, then for individuals this indicator is 9.34%.

And interests on deposits raised in foreign currency continue to grow. For example, in February, the yield of newly attracted deposits in foreign currency was 2.34% per annum, and in March - 2.77%.

The average interest rate on new loans given to customers declined by 100 basis points (1%) in manats and made up 15.07% in March. The average interest rate on loans in the country in manats is 14.38%. Loans to companies amount to 10.23%, and to individuals - 16.06%. At the beginning of the year, these interests were 10.14% and 16% for legal entities and individuals, respectively.

New loans given in foreign currency made up 5.72%. This means an increase of 0.51 p.p. over the last month. The average loan rate is 5.36% in foreign currency for legal entities and 4.68% for individuals.
