April 23, Fineko/abc.az. Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov discussed with the EBRD Regional Director for the Caucasus Alkis Vriennios Drakinos the introduction of financing mechanisms to combat climate change.

ABC.AZ reports that it was stressed at the meeting that Azerbaijan and the EBRD have successful cooperation in various areas.

Joint projects with the bank in the field of environment, energy, transport and other areas contribute to diversification of the economy. Information was provided on the possibilities of cooperation in implementation of the set development goals, in particular on priority projects on renewable and alternative energy, private sector development, public-private partnership, infrastructure and other areas.

The parties discussed the matters on agenda of Azerbaijan–EBRD relations, preliminary draft of agency's strategy for Azerbaijan for 2024-29, intensive support for green economy and prospects for joint projects. It was stated that the bank is interested in cooperation within the COP29, and exchange of views was held on the challenges for COP29 and the use of financing mechanisms to combat climate change.
