April 5, Fineko/abc.az. India's gold and foreign exchange reserves have reached $645.6 bn, which is a historical record for the country.

ABC.AZ reports that the statement was made by Shaktikanta Das, the head of the Reserve Bank of India.

"Indian gold and foreign exchange reserves have reached a historical record of $645.6 bn as of March 30, 2024," Das said.

He recalled that in 2021, gold and foreign exchange reserves for the first time exceeded the $640 bn mark, but then, amid global economic problems and the geopolitical situation, the outflow of dollar assets from developing countries began, as a result, gold and foreign exchange reserves decreased to about $524 bn.

Dvas noted that, despite criticism, Central Bank's policy at that time to mitigate fluctuations in the value of the Indian rupee turned out to be successful.
