March 27, Fineko/abc.az. Flexible export duties may complicate the competitiveness of Russian energy company Inter RAO in possible electricity supplies to Georgia and Türkiye.
ABC.AZ reports that Alexandra Panina, a member of the company’s Board of Directors, said about this.
She explained that a tender for supplies to these countries should be held in the near future, in which the company intends to participate. An application from the Azerbaijani side is also expected - accordingly, 7% of the duty in the price of Inter RAO may have impact.
Earlier, it was reported that Inter RAO agreed with China and Mongolia to increase prices for electricity supplies by the amount of the duty.
The Russian government has imposed flexible export duties on some goods to protect the domestic market. They started operating on October 1, and are tied to the ruble exchange rate. Electricity is also subject to duties. The measure will be in effect until the end of 2024.
The amount of duties varies from 0% to 10% for different goods. Basically, the duty will range from 4% to 7%, depending on the exchange rate of the national currency, and at 80 rubles per dollar and below it will be zero.
