January 22, Fineko/abc.az. The Russian Federation sells lumber intended for construction to Azerbaijan for almost 2-fold more expensive price than before the pandemic.

ABC.AZ reports that the country purchased pine imported from Russia in large quantities in 2019 at price of $133 per cu m (227 manats), in 2020 at $117, in 2021 at $135, and in 2022 at $203.

And in 2023, this figure already exceeded $213. While prices for this material increased by 5% last year, in the pre-pandemic period this figure was 60-70% more expensive.

Prices for spruce, which is also imported in large quantities (after pine), amount to $210 per cubic foot (in 2022 — $206).

Over Jan-Nov 2023, 191,9600 cu m ($40.89 million) of white pine wood, 155,390 cu m ($32.68 million) of spruce and 173,490 cu m ($32.61 million) of chipboard were imported from Russia.

A total of $183.34 million worth of lumber was purchased from Russia.
