January 10, Fineko/abc.az. In Cuba, gasoline prices will increase more than by 400% from February 1, said Minister of Finance & Prices of Cuba, Vladimir Regeiro, on state television.

He noted that, depending on the quality, the price will rise from 25 pesos ($0.2) to 132 pesos ($1.1) and from 30 pesos ($0.24) to 156 pesos ($1.25) per liter.

ABC.AZ reports that in addition, it is reported that gasoline will be sold to foreigners only for dollars. Including 29 gas stations across the country will accept only dollars for payment.

These decisions are part of the Cuban authorities' measures to reduce the budget deficit and attract foreign currency. Earlier, the authorities announced an increase in electricity and gas prices for some consumers. According to official data, Cuba's GDP decreased by 2% in 2023, and inflation was 30%. Cubans regularly face shortages of food, medicines, fuel, consumer goods, etc.
