January 9, Fineko/abc.az. At the beginning of this year, there were 2.3% more deposits in banks than at the beginning of last year – 34.6 bn manats, including 9.2% more – 12.5 bn manats.

ABC.AZ reports that Association of Banks of Azerbaijan’s chairman Zakir Nuriyev said about this at the Azerbaijan Financial Forum in Baku.

He noted that although the coefficient of dollarization of deposits is 36.4%, for individuals this threshold is 33.4%.

"This is respectively 10.7 p.p. and 6.4 p.p. less than on an annual basis," ABA chair said.

He added that the capital position of banks has also strengthened during the year, the balance sheet capital of the sector grew by 8.4% up to 6.1 bn manats.
