Whatsapp getting new call privacy feature

17:06 - 29.08.2023

August 29, Fineko/abc.az. WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature to improve call privacy.

ABC.AZ reports citing the WABetaInfo portal specializing in the analysis of updates in the messenger, users will be able to hide their IP address when making calls.

It is noted that hiding your IP address will complicate the determination of the actual location of the caller. To do this, calls will go through WhatsApp servers, which in turn may slightly reduce the quality of communication. You can check the availability of the function in the messenger settings in the Privacy - Calls section.

In addition, WhatsApp implements protection against interception of calls and messages using end-to-end encryption. According to the developers of the messenger, this helps protect messages, photos, videos, voice messages, documents, statuses and user calls from falling into the wrong hands.

The innovation was discovered in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android under the number 2.23.18.15. The timing of its launch for users of stable builds of the application on Android, iOS and Windows has not yet been disclosed.
