July 4, Fineko/abc.az. The UK and Bahrain have signed an agreement that will attract more than £1 bn ($1.27 bn) to the British economy.

ABC.AZ reports that this is stated in a message distributed on Monday by the office of the head of the British government, Rishi Sunak, following his talks in London with the Prime Minister of Bahrain, Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

"The leaders welcomed the signing of a new strategic partnership on investment and cooperation between the UK and Bahrain today. The agreement is aimed at securing additional investments in the UK worth more than £1 bn, supporting the diversification of Bahrain's economy and should become a driving force for closer cooperation between our countries in the field of clean technologies, business services and manufacturing," 10 Downing Street said in a statement.

Sunak noted that this agreement "represents the next chapter" in relations between the two countries, covering the areas of "security, defense and trade".
