April 18, Fineko/abc.az. The limits of economic stability are not determined by interest rates or debt levels, ABC.AZ reports, quoting Agustín Carstens, the president of the Bank for International Settlements.

He noted that central banks’ interest rates should remain high for a long time.

Carstens added that some countries maintain low interest rates to achieve their economic growth goals, which harms financial stability. Stating that the high level of debt also poses a great risk, Carstens noted that financial crises may arise if the repayment of these debts becomes difficult.
