If a loan is overdue, the car will return to the salon itself – a novelty from Ford

March 2, Fineko/abc.az. Ford Corporation intends to patent a system that in the future will allow autonomous cars to return to the showroom on their own if their owners do not pay the loan for the car, ABC.AZ reports with reference to The Times.

According to the newspaper, the documents for the corresponding invention were filed with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.

The company plans to make life as uncomfortable as possible for a driver who does not make a payment on a car loan or under a vehicle leasing agreement. As part of the "multi-step retention procedure", the car will start sending signals to the driver through its infotainment system with a demand to repay the debt. At the next stage, it is planned that the car will turn off the satellite navigation system, speakers, air conditioning in order to "create a certain level of discomfort".

If the owner of the car ignores these measures of influence, then every time he gets behind the wheel, the sound system will be activated, which will begin to emit an "incessant and unpleasant sound", the publication quotes the company's statement. In the future, the car will begin to block the owner from going where he wants, but will continue to allow him to make the way to work and back. Such an exception will be made so that the motorist does not lose in earnings, and the possibility of repayment of the loan does not become even more illusory.

If the owner of the car withstands all these tests and does not heed the warnings, then the car itself will return to the dealership or to the landfill for disposal if the system considers that it is already too worn out.

The Times quotes a Ford representative who said that the introduction of a patent for a new system is not necessarily evidence that this decision will eventually be implemented.
