February 24, Fineko/abc.az. Bill Gates bought a minority stake in Heineken Holding, which is the controlling shareholder (owns 50%) of Heineken N.V. - the second largest brewing company in the world.

ABC.AZ reports that this follows from the data on the website of Dutch regulator AFM.

The AFM website states that the transaction took place on 17 February.

Bill Gates bought a total of 3.76% of the shares: 6.65 million personally and 4.18 million through a joint trust with his ex-wife Melinda Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The transaction amount could be about €848.2 million ($902 million), Bloomberg calculated based on the closing price of the securities on 17 February.

On Wednesday, Heineken shares on the Amsterdam stock exchange rose by 1.5% and cost €98.4.
