Expert: Salaries, pensions and social benefits should be increased

12:15 - 13.06.2022

June 13, Fineko/abc.az. "Over Jan-May 2022 the consumer price index grew by 12.6% (versus Jan-May 2021), including for foods, beverages and tobacco by 17.9% and for nonfoods by 6.6%," ABC.AZ reports with reference economic expert Parviz Heydarov.

The expert said that those figures show that the growth continues more and more:

"Food products continue to contribute to the acceleration of inflation. Even with high world oil prices, we did not have such a level of inflation and high cost. This once again shows that the current inflation and price increases are imported from outside. It is impossible to prevent or limit this. The measures taken, on the contrary, will suppress the development of domestic production and the economy, strengthen the dependence of the domestic market on external ones. What is the way out? In the 2nd half of the year, the financing of social orientation from the budget should be increased. Wages, pensions and social benefits of the population should be increased. In short, as from January of this year, the second social package should be prepared and implemented. In particular, minimum wages and pensions should be increased."
