February 14, Fineko/abc.az. President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited Agdam on 13 February.
ABC.AZ reports that the country’s leader and his spouse got acquainted with the progress of restoration works carried out by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the Agdam Juma Mosque.
Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s project coordinator in the occupation-liberated territories, Sabig Abdullayev, informed the head of state and the first lady about the work done.
The Juma Mosque in Agdam was built in 1868-1870 by architect Kerbalai Sefihan Karabagi.
This mosque is the only building in the city that suffered relatively little from the destruction by the Armenians during the occupation of Agdam.
The restoration of the Juma Mosque was started by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
A contract was signed with Austrian company Brugger&KO Restauratoren GmbH for implementation of the project.
