November 2, Fineko/abc.az. The public discussion of VAT exemption for the import and sale of books and paper products is taking place at Milli Majlis today in connection with the submitted amendments to the Tax Code.
ABC.AZ reports that MPs, representatives of publishing houses of Azerbaijan, bookselling networks, media organizations are participating in the discussions held at the initiative of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy, Industry & Entrepreneurship.
According to the amending bill, the import and sale of media products and books (with the exception of e-books), as well as sets of textbooks, the list of which is approved by the relevant executive authority, import and sale of paper in the form of rolls or sheets related to the production (publication) of these goods (products), as well as editorial, publishing and printing activities (with the exception of advertising services) related to the production of printed media and books (including electronic books) are exempt from VAT.
