October 29, Fineko/abc.az. The foreign exchange market of Azerbaijan is stable, stated Central Bank of Azerbaijan’s chairman, when commenting on rumors about the alleged impending devaluation of the manat in the country.

He added that at the moment there is no threat or pressure on the exchange rate of the manat.

"We are monitoring the media. I also wonder where the news with such headlines comes from. Such comments are incompetent. We expect a significant surplus in the balance of payments. As you know, international organizations have significantly increased the forecast on oil prices. Today, the documents were discussed at the Milli Majlis Economic Council. There are no threats and pressure upon the exchange rate of the manat. On the contrary, there is considerable pressure to strengthen the exchange rate of the manat. This does not conform to our economic strategy. Therefore, this pressure is expected to decrease by the end of the year. One should not create a stir among the population with such unprofessional articles. I call on everyone to take strict social responsibility," he emphasized.
