July 7, Fineko/abc.az. The president has signed a decree on the new division of economic districts of Azerbaijan.

ABC.AZ reports that according to the decree, the eastern part of the Zangezur plateau, surrounded by the Zangezur mountain range and occupying a large territory from Lachin and Kelbajar to Nakhchivan, located on the border with Armenia and located in the same geographical space, historically, as well as for many years as part of the Zangezur county, created in 1861, and traditional socio-economic, historical and cultural ties make it necessary to unite the Zangilan, Gubadli, Jabrayil, Lachin and Kelbajar districts into a single East-Zangezur Economic Region.

The Karabakh Economic Region was created in order to ensure the restoration and accelerated development of the ancient Karabakh region, which has unique historical and cultural heritage, amazing nature, including the Aghdam, Shusha, Fizuli, Terter, Khojavend, Khojaly districts and the city of Khankendi, as well as the Aghjabedi and Barda districts belonging to the Karabakh region.
