May 18, Fineko/abc.az. The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) is preparing to drill in the Mugan Plain, located in the north of Iran.

Drilling will be carried out in the region bordering with Azerbaijan, ABC.AZ reports. The field is estimated to contain more than 4 billion barrels of light crude oil.

The search and exploration work on the territory of Mugan was carried out for 13 years.

Drilling of the well will be conducted from the Fat 54 drilling rig. The rig will be delivered to Mugan from the city of Ahvaz.

The process of rig transportation should take about 25 days to start drilling at the end of June.
