October 23, Fineko/abc.az. Ex-head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev has been elected the president of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (AMEA).

The candidacy of Mehdiyev for the AMEA president post was put forward by Akif Alizadeh, who resigned from this position the day before due to health reasons.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed on Wednesday a decree on the release of Mehdiyev from the post of the Presidential Administration’s head.
