Azerbaijani company becomes first operator of oilfields in U.S.

November 5, Fineko/abc.az. The representative of the private oil & gas sector of Azerbaijan, GL Group, also accelerated the expansion of its activities in international markets.

In July 2026, the company acquired four oil & gas fields in the Permian Basin in the U.S. state of Texas, covering more than 200 active production wells. Thus, GL Group became the first Azerbaijani group of companies directly managing mining assets in the U.S.

Earlier, in October 2024, the group acquired a 25% stake in Gazelle Energy Limited (Canada) and entered into a 145-square-kilometer gas exploration & production project in the Trakia basin in Turkey.
