Gold Rises to $4,158 as Fed October Rate Hike Expectations Fade

09:43 - 5.10.2026

October 5, Fineko/abc.az. Gold prices rose on Monday as weaker-than-expected U.S. labor market data significantly reduced expectations of an October interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve. Spot gold gained 0.4% to $4,158.17 per ounce, while U.S. gold futures climbed 0.6% to $4,186.40.

According to the CME FedWatch Tool, investors lowered the probability of an October rate increase from 64% last week to 22%. However, market participants still anticipate further tightening by December.

Geopolitical risks in the Middle East and gains across other precious metals (silver at $61.40, platinum at $1,708.48) continue to provide underlying safe-haven support.
