October 2, Fineko/abc.az. Nearly 9 billion manats have been allocated in Azerbaijan's state budget for 2027 for military and security needs.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made the statement while addressing the 8th Congress of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) in Baku.
According to the president, wars and armed clashes continue around Azerbaijan, while new hotspots of conflict are emerging in the North, the South and the Middle East.
“Wars and clashes continue around us along the entire perimeter, and there is no international mechanism to stop these wars, and there likely will not be. Because international law has completely collapsed. The number of those who attach importance to it is dropping sharply,” Aliyev said.
He said Azerbaijan must be ready every day to respond to any military provocation and must attain sufficient power to ensure that no one even considers taking provocative action against the country.
“Therefore, this is the primary task, and it is no coincidence that in our state budget currently under discussion, in next year's budget, military and security issues are again at the forefront, and nearly 9 billion manats are allocated for these purposes,” the president said.
Aliyev also noted that Azerbaijan has other priorities, including the restoration of Garabagh and East Zangezur and improving the social welfare of the population.
“However, if we cannot protect ourselves, then any other project of ours will become completely meaningless,” he said.
