September 22, Fineko/abc.az. Over Jan-Aug 2026, Azerbaijan exported 358,800 tons of crude oil for $253.1 million to Bulgaria. Compared with Jan-Aug 2025, physical volume of exports grew 4.5-fold and its value 5.2-fold.

The average cost of a ton of exported oil increased by 15.9% up to $705.4. Against this background, Azerbaijan's share in Bulgaria's oil imports grew from 4% up to 11.6%.

Growth in supplies is linked with Bulgaria's diversification of crude oil sources. Country's largest oil refinery, the Burgas refinery, began refining various grades of oil from alternative sources after the termination of the benefits for Russian oil.

Azerbaijan is still inferior to the main oil suppliers to Bulgaria - Kazakhstan, Iraq and Saudi Arabia, but in 2026 its supplies to this country are growing at one of the fastest rates.
