September 17, Fineko/abc.az. Ante Zigman, ECB Governing Council member and Governor of the Croatian National Bank, warned that failure to contain inflation could jeopardize economic growth.
Speaking to Bloomberg Television, Zigman stressed that with Eurozone inflation remaining above 3%, bringing it back down to the ECB's 2% target must remain the top priority.
Zigman affirmed that the ECB will not base its monetary policy decisions on market expectations or aggressive rate hike bets, but strictly on incoming economic data. While rising energy prices pose upside inflation risks, he noted that wage growth remains controlled and second-round effects have not yet significantly materialized across broader prices.
